On leaving his eduction, Steve trained as a graphic artist but after an unfortunate hand injury, turned to volunteer work at the Liverpool Citizen Advice Bureau. For a short time, he was asked to be a guidance tutor where he provided training and support to new volunteers. During his time at the CAB, he trained to a high level in welfare benefit law, housing law and debt. In 1995, he successfully gained employment at a highly credible firm of solicitors Linskills Solicitors and joined a team of excellent advisers. He was promoted to manager and managed the team providing the necessary support to increase workload and increase legal aid contract to help and assist more of the disabled and vulnerable.
Due to having a large and loyal client group, when the Government removed legal aid for the disabled and vulnerable in 2013 he continued to provide the service with the support of his clients and is always on hand to provide the support which so necessary for many.
He works in the following specifications:
Social Welfare Law, supporting the disabled and the vulnerable with the complex welfare benefit system, including Universal Credit, Local Authorities, HMRC, appealing decisions to HM Court & Tribunal Service and Upper Tribunal with full representation and highest rate of successful appeals
Steven was educated at St. Kevin’s Comprehensive School in Kirkby and gained qualifications at O level standard, member of Rightsnet, Child poverty action group, and Upper Tribunal Forum
